Truly an amazing experience. The film festival was interesting and fun, but paled in comparison to the wonders of St. Petersburg. It’s really an incredible city — and you should go if you can figure out how to get half-way around the world. Here are some photos to sustain you until then:
St. Petersburg, Here We Come!
The St. Petersburg Film Festival is only a few short weeks away. They’ve updated their site with pictures of the participants (I submitted my most Russian looking photo – complete with fu manchu), and have set the schedule of events. As a guest, my responsibilities include: going to premieres, eating, sleeping, touring the city, and most stressful of all: playing the role of a professional writer. While I know the trip will be taxing, I believe I am up for it.
Punk Farm
A Musical in Chicago
Come see the show at the Northlight Theater in Skokie from September 16 – October 23. Should be a mighty fine production.
My Son Pinocchio in Queens!
Yes, that’s right — My Son Pinocchio (the shortened “Junior” version) premiered at the OWN Charter School in Astoria! And let me just say that you haven’t lived until you’ve seen a group of middle school kids perform your work. I loved every minute of it — and was moved by the effort and dedication that everyone put into the production. This is a school that doesn’t normally have a drama program — so they created this event out of thin air (and a lot of caring grown-up involvement). Truly inspiring.
